  • Creating custom post types to dynamically display accommodations, rooms, and amenities.
  • Building a custom carousel plugin that allowed any custom post type to be featured on any page via a shortcode.
  • Implementing a custom events calendar plugin to showcase happenings at the hotel and nearby attractions.
  • Developing a related posts plugin to suggest similar rooms on accommodation pages, improving user engagement and conversion rates.
  • Creating a category filter plugin with search functionality for an improved user experience when browsing accommodations and amenities.
  • Optimizing the site for SEO and performance to improve organic search rankings and increase traffic.

The Approach

To build a website that met these objectives, I implemented a fully custom WordPress development strategy, focusing on design, performance, and SEO optimization. The site was built with a mobile-first approach, ensuring that guests could easily explore the hotel’s offerings and make reservations on any device.

The Results

The impact of the new website was immediate and exceeded expectations. Within the first year of launch, Google Analytics reported:

✅ 269,084 new users, compared to 39,701 users the previous year (578% increase).
✅ 135,038 users from organic search, up from 23,723 the prior year (469% increase).
✅ 101,067 direct traffic users, a massive jump from 10,909 the previous year (827% increase).

These results highlight the significant boost in online visibility, organic traffic, and direct engagement, proving that the website was not only a stunning digital representation of the brand but also a highly effective lead generation and booking tool.

Additionally, the custom-built features made it easier for The Restoration Hotel team to manage and update their content, ensuring long-term usability and scalability.
